My Bloody Luck, Spiderchip, A Dead Xbox? Help!
« on: November 27, 2005, 03:20:00 PM »

I got the spiderchip, in less than 5 minute, it works off and on. So, I decide to test the OFF switch. When I turn it to ON again, it frag. I tried to align the chip again, no luck.

I notice that there's nothing on the tv screen even though the chip is off.
I thought it was the wire to the tv, I checked and then the xbox.
I try on my other xbox, it work. So, I figure it was xbox.
The video part of it is dead.

The next day, I tried it again, and everything looks fine, except it frag and have no video. I kinda hear the sound when I turn it on, but not the xbox intro because it didn't load. It just frag without the chip. With the chip, it goes on then off, then frag,

I blame it on the spider, then on the xbox.

This is practically new xbox with xcm case and with the 12volt fan and heatsink. And then the chip. I spent alot on this.

CAN THIS BE FIXED OR REVERSED?

THANKS for reading...

Remove the spider, if the xbox frags then you have damaged the motherboard. look carefully at the motherboard where you inserted the spiders legs - is there any damage ?

If you opened the via's you have damaged one or more of them. If you have damaged the D0 via then you could try linking the top D0 to the bottom D0 but this requires dificult solderring !

If your xbox doesn't work without the spider take it to a installer who will be able to solder in a pinheader and get your spider working just fine !

Thanks for answering.
Well, it frag with without the chip. With the chip, it turn on then off, on then off, and then frag.

I don't know what via you're talking about. I only has 1 leg and it connected to the d0.
I don't know if it's damaged or not because it looks different before I even put on the chip.
I can tell it's the d0.

So, if the MB's damaged, then it's gone right?
Crap.

I don't know, it just work and like a minute later, it dies.
Really pissed me off. Now I have to call MS to fix it. I really like this Xbox, like brand new.
All it does it frag. Open tray, eject, power off and on, but not really dead.

So, is it really dead? Upon confirming this, I can get it fix.

Thanks again.

Also, you think that the 12volt fan and the heatsink can contribute to this?
I shouldn't have turn the modchip OFF, I should've just leave it ON.

Well for the fact that it doesn't work with the spder gx removed then you have damaged the top D0 point (known as a via )

This is not the Spider GX's fault ...

The top D0 point now needs to be connected to the bottom D0 point using a piece of wire wrap !

It's a spiderchip 1.1. It;s not gX.
It is the chip's fault.  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif)

MS will not repair an Xbox if the warranty has been voided, which you have done by opening the console in the first place.

It is the chip's fault.

Its actually the installers fault (Yours), but nobody likes to admit they screwed up so its easier to blame the chip. Happens with every sort of chip not just the Spider.
Xbox works....Attempted chip install.....Xbox no longer works.......The chip is to blame.
