1) You don't need to install any dashboards. It is Xbit+bios which enable playing backups. Btw. there is no need to replace Msdash as all new bios versions boot most common dashboards without renaming.

2) No swap tricks needed.

3) I'm not familiar with those auto-installers, but HDD swap is quite simple task: HDD install guide @ Xbox-Scene
