You must use Flux on the ps2 it helps the solder flow , its absolutley essential on the pins

i use a 0.5MM Pencil tip and use two razor blades to stop the solder flowing

If you join any of the pins with solder then your board is dead basically cause you wont have the tools to remove the excess solder

You will also need some Solder Braid

I put a razor blade either side of the pins , and very lightly tin the wire . Line it up on the pin and touch it with the iron and you will get a nice connection


You will kill your ps2 not using flux
