Matrix Flash Programmer
« on: October 22, 2002, 11:09:00 PM »

I have tried flashing the Matrix Chip on 4 different computers. 1 Has Windows 98, 1 has Windows me and the Other has Windows XP Professional. I also tried flashing the chip at my work with Windows 2000. They all come back with the same exact problem as below.

Milksop GPL Reflasher - 0.12 - ©2002 [email protected]

CHEAPLPC on printer port at 0x378
LPC bus error - peripheral returned SYNC=0F
error getting device ID at address FFC00000
Device not supported

I have also tried 6 different Batteries. Tried pressing the Chip during the attempt to flash. Also tried 2 week batteries. All come back with the same above error

I also tried WinLPC.exe and it does not detect the chip too. I have gone to my bios and changed all the parallell port settings with even a slight ray of hope.

I would really appreciate if someone could help me flash my matrix chip for me with evo 2.5. Does any one have the Matrix in the New Jersey area.

Really appreciate any one's help.

I'm having the same exact problem... also tried two machines here: 1 XP and 1 ME.

New battery... I tried to reboot and flash again... no luck.  I did get an
'ok' message box the first time... then an error message.

Confused...  (and in need of help).

CHEAPLPC on printer port at 0x378

Anything like this need done on XP?

''''''You have to select Port Settings then click "Use any interupt assigned to the port". Now the resources will show the IRQ in use as well and milksop worked like a charm on my matrix. ''''''

Simple. reboot, go into your bios settings and adjust the lpt ports irq/address settings.. The average pc has 3 options, so at worst you have 2 reboots... No tech skills required, just the process of elimination..

Seems strange that all documents and even the flashpack are setup to use a non-default address, but oh well.. It does work, just use the process of elimination. smile.gif

its my understanding that the milk program was to be run in dos (like a dos boot disk) and windows was suppose to be bypassed completely.. dunno 4 sure cause i don't have the chip.

oK!!  Get this...  I tried to get it to flash on 3 machines and I kept getting the same error message:

CHEAPLPC on printer port at 0x378
LPC bus error - peripheral returned SYNC=0F
error getting device ID at address FFC00000
Device not supported

So, I threw the flasher under a microscope at work and checked it out.  ONE OF THE COMPONENTS WAS WAY THE HELL OFF THE PAD - two leads were hardly making contact and one was not even touching the pad.  A really small iron bit and some solder and I was able to flash!

Thnks for the help
I was having the same problems.
I changed the lpt port setting in XP to use the IRQ & still no go.
I then discarded the cable & it worked fine with WinLPC
Hope this helps someone else

Yes, no cables.

Its been said countless times on xbox-scene.com and here, cables will not work and can damage your programmer if used.  So remember NO CABLES!
