'chipped' But No Chip?
« on: March 11, 2003, 08:11:00 AM »

Hey, just installed a new HD into my Xbox and noticed that there wasn't a chip fitted

The guy who installed it for me said he was putting a chip in and the latest D6 Bios, when I boot the Box it says 'Inside Matrix' at the bottom so just assumed it was a Matrix chip fitted. However when I stuck my new HD in I just checked for the chip as I was thinking about installing a switch but there was no chip there, or at least where it is supposed to be installed.  Anyone tell me why/ how he did this?

Thanks :D

i imagine that requires some soldering. and since yuen got someone to "mod" his xbox for him, i assume he might be able to do it himself.

the TSOP is your original BIOS, since your original bios is gone ...

you can't switch ... so no xbox live for you

That's why he was so evasive when I was asking about how easy it was to install a switch!

Ah well, looks like a second Xbox for me to go Live sad.gif

Just ask him to add a switch from A19 to ground and then flash the TSOP with a 1Meg image...

orig + orig + mod + mod

Tada... yur done.

There are tons of tuts on this site about how to do it as well.

Yea HTFU (Hold the fuck up wink.gif)

You can have live just re-flash the TSOP ask him, and then u can ask him to do a original bios and a hacked bios like evox d.6, then add a switch for bios select at the back done, enjoy chipped modded xbox biggrin.gif and xbox live

To flash the tsop and charge for a modchip installation is a not good at all...

First, because you render the Xbox uncompatible with Xbox Live,
without letting the customer know it...

And second, if you try to upgrade the modchip with EvoX,
you may damage permanetally your Xbox and not your modchip,
without knowing it, because of a wrong flash...

For these reasons, always prefer a modchip with led,
that can notify you that there is a modchip inside,
without having to open the console!

maybe it is a homebrew mod (im sure it is) that is 29 wires and it is on the bottom of the XBOX motherboard.  Did you check that?
