What Is "BIOS Version Detection?"
« on: June 20, 2002, 09:57:00 PM »

You could actually put ANY modchip on a switch.  Also, in my experience modchip protected games actually COST that company money.  The theory that people will buy a game and remove their modchip for that one game is flawed.  All that it really means is that you have to burn the game rather than buy it.   There will always be patches available for these types of games and 'cracked' releases.  Companies who make these games lose a lot of money.  That's why Capcom scrapped the idea on Dino Crisis 2 for the PSX because instead of everyone buying Dino Crisis they pirated it instead.  Even people who normally would have purchased it.  Also, this caused a surge of 'Dino mode' chips, now known as stealth mode.
