Just kidding. On to the mod!
First, I cut away this piece of the HDD caddy:
Then the side:
Just a top view:
Then I stuck the transformer and board from a 12v 500ma adapter in there. Desoldered the wires, and installed a 7808 Regulator in the bottom (see bottom picture).
After all that cutting with a knife (my dremel recently ate the dust), I threw in the fader IC's. Its just these two circuits, built right onto the chip, and hotglued together:
(+12v not +5v trigger
)
The fader circuit came from metku mods I think, cant remember exactly where though. Something along those lines though
The blue wire goes to pins 6 and 7 for the front panel, the red wire following it goes to +12v to switch it off using a Window Comparator, and the last red wire serves as the ground for the LEDs. The grey cable is its' power.
View of the board with the ICs:
The power for the Xformer was taken directly from the Xbox's power plug:
And here's the video proving that it works. Note though that this mobo is missing its EEPROM so where it would normally flash red when it turns on, this one flashes Blue
EDIT Can anyone host the vid? Tis only 766kb
