Copying A Backups Problem
« on: September 29, 2005, 05:27:00 PM »

I am tring to duplicate an existing backup.  When ever I use nero to copy a backup, I get no errors and all seems fine.  When I try to boot the game, Evox shows the disc as Unknown, this is the same if i use alchohol.  I've used Nero in the past to do this and never had any problems.  I've even got to the extent of formating my comp.  I've tried diffrent versions of nero and alchohol and its still not having it.  My burner is a Pioneer 105, using XP home.  The strange thing is my laptop does it fine.  My comp is a medion so the firmware updates are hard to come by as the offical pioneer ones don't work.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

My guess is you are using DVD+Rs and your xbox drive is a Samsung.  The laptop probably sets the booktype to DVD-ROM and your desktop doesn't.

I'm using DVD-R and my xbox drive is a Thomson. I'm not quite sure what you mean by booktype, can this be sorted so my desktop can burn them again?

You shouldn't be duplicating back ups anyway.
Try backing up an original on the same type of disc using the same burning program and see what happens

I'm tring to transfer my existing backups to printable media, it just seems like a much faster way is to duplicate the ones I have.  Is there no way I can do this with my pioneer 109?

If you already wasted 50 discs, i'd think Chancer's way is best route to go.

LOL yeah it would make more sense, I think its just become an obsession.  Just seems strange that it has worked in the past but won't now.  I'd be happy just knowing why.

Thanks for the help anyway guys.  better go route out the old RJ45...
