Wow that's pretty damn cheap.  Personally I wouldn't use anything but Ritek 4X DVD-Rs.  They seem to work better in my DVD player than much more expensive discs, but they aren't as cheap as the ones you found.

With free shipping, this is the best price I'm aware of right now on Riteks:

The problem with cheap media (except ritek) supposively don't last as long. I been using all type of media and never ran into a problem. Maybe because of my lucky pioneer burner.  laugh.gif

Writing usually isn't the problem, it's getting them to read in a wide variety of XBOXs and set top DVD players that's the challenge.

Thank you all...

I ended up going with Ritek at http://www.shop4tech...ata=1&s_cata=88 and used easter10 coupon code for 10% off.

Thanks all,

Sonic is perfect for Xbox games and PC Data files, won't work with PS2, doesn't compatible with some DVD stand alone players

2x Ritek, I bought from them many times before, good service...work on xbox , ps2, and all stand alone dvd players.

4x Ritek, this site always cheaper than other sites.

I have been backing up my tables onto dvd (at work) for the past two years.  I have gone through 6 different burners and have moved from -R to +R (about 40 terabytes total).  We have tried out every major consumer brand as well as Ritek and arita.  Why have we tried out so many different brands?  The failure rate.  First there is a failure rate when burning then there is a failure in longevity.  In my experience these are crap brands: TDK, Phillips, Sony, and Memorex.  You will lose 10 - 20 percent with these.   Ritek has a low failure rate when it comes to burning (lowest possible speed).  However I have seen many of my Ritek dvds that are over a year old fail.  These have been accessed and read from at least twice a week for the past year.  Currently we are using Arita (made by Ritek) and they have done fairly well.  The best brand that I have encountered is Fuji.  Low failure rate and they have lasted longer than Ritek.  The problem with Fuji is the cost.  Bottom line, Ritek is good for now but I don't think that any dvd recordable media is going to last.  I can't wait for holographic storage.
