I don't live in Boston/NY but would love to let her know that there is a separate pot for CD-R, just like in the PS2.

the easiest way to get the xbox to read cd-rs is to put a different disc drive in there. there are tutorials on installing a pc dvd-rom drive in your xbox and wiring up something so that the eject button works and all that shit. but if you don't care that much, you can do like me and just leave the xbox open with a pc dvd-rom drive sitting on top of the xbox dvd drive. if you want more info, i or others can probably give you plenty.
