my friends screen keeps like resetting when he uses a HD cable with his xbox

as in: constantly especially in emu's and games the screen blinks real quick, the audio cuts out real quick and it has the screen resolution and source info displayed in the upper left corner (via the tv not xbox). kinda like he just switched to that source (i.e. "component 1" or "video 3" etc...) its like loosing signal then gaining it right away again.

it doesn't do this on my 4:3 using non HD cable and i believe it doesn't on his if he uses a non HD cable.

what gives?
