the only thing i can use my unmodded xbox too (when useing networkcable) is too play over net (XlinKai and similair)

hm.. didn't even know there was a light on the back of my xbox! lol  guess i never looked.

have you tried pinging the xbox, or just ftp connecting?  was the ping successful?

it very well could be a hardware problem with the network adapter.  Looks like you have some soldering to do.
