Associate Apps With Files...sort Of
« on: December 01, 2004, 11:44:00 AM »

OOPS.  This post was supposed to go under the "Submit your ideas to the avalaunch team" post.

It would be nice if users could define menus that scan certain directories for certain files, (just like the games menu avalaunch has by default).  When you click (press A) on a particular file it would open that file using whatever app you had associated with the filetype.

The use I'm thinking of is for movies.  I convert some DVD's to high quality avi's and some i leave as the native DVD files.  I can open XBMC, browse to the folder containing the files, and run them manually but other family members can't handle that.

It would be very convenient to boot to avalaunch, click on a videos menu under the games menu, see a listing of my movies, click on one, and boom, it runs.

Is this possible?

By the way, I just want to say thanks to the avalaunch team for working hard and making such a usefull program available to all of us.
