using avalaunch .049 for the first time and i,m very impressed i was using the evox software that came with my premodded xbox over a year ago ....i connect to my pc with a crossover cable and have setup ics in windows xp all ok ...but the avalaunch manual states that if i want it to connect to the internet (for updates etc) that i will need a router or a second nic card installed ?.......why is this?.........can,t avalaunch connect to the internet through my pc as is?.....(its good enough for xbox live and xb connect)

No, the NIC you are using is fine. In the network settings, setup the DNS Servers as those for your ISP (run ipconfig /all from the DOS prompt to get them), and ensure the default gateway is set to the IP address of your network connection to the Xbox.
