the best thing that i can say is to use a evo boot disk, like the _458? I think that is it. and when you boot, itll tell you the ip to connect to. Everything else seems ok on your side. Oh, and i left my default gateway blank

Ok, some more info and this is a weird one.

I have discovered that I can only connect using flashfxp if I enable the WindowsXP firewall on the LAN but this then appears to block any data from the xbox reaching my PC and flashfxp reports connection lost after a few seconds.

Am looking into this firewall but any ideas would be great.

How many LAN cards do you have in your PC?

How is your cable/DSL modem connected?

---

Note: Firewall & proxy software is very "sticky". Often simply disabling it is -NOT- enough as I've discovered the hard way.

You must UNINSTALL it and hope things return to normal.

BTW: Turning ON XP's firewalling enables it's DHCP service which is why you are having SOME sucess. This in turn indicates that with it off, something is blocking Window's packet reception.

Your Xbox is probably fine, once you make the changes I noted, it's your PC which is to blame.

Make sure you have passive mode turned off in Flashfxp. The xbox does not like passive mode .

Weirder and weirder!!

Ok, I am using ADSL through USB and only one 3com network card for xbox connection only, have tried turning passive mode off in flashfxp but it is still the same, have connected xbox to another PC using WindowsXP and same type network card (not the same card) with exactly the same results.
I am booting the xbox with a cd-rw running evo-x 1.8.2812 and Flasfxp V2.

Excuse me while I go a little nuts.

Any more ideas please.

No hair left now,

Ok have now tried cuteftp and will only connect with WindowsXP firewall enabled and sits there with "socket connected waiting for welcome message".

Getting tired now, maybe I have a faulty cabe, the words straws clutching and at come to mind.

Sorted!

Had gateway and IP address on same values,
edited evox.ini and now it works, I'm learning.
