Thanks it works smile.gif.
The controller is finished thanks for your help smile.gif.

Maybe I'm just dumb but I really can't figure out which two leads to bridge :/
I also accidently pulled out my TP18 while putting the back cover back on and I tried to follow the leads but both times I tried, the controller acted funny

btw, I have the same model controller.. if I could get help on this, it would be greatly appreciated

If you've pulled off the TP18 spot then you'll have to jumper over that and connect the Vias at each end of that trace run, something that will be much more difficult than soldering to the TP18 spot.

so before I go soldering blindly like I think I may have already, would this be the correct place to jump?

/edit: sorry for edit, but if I do bridge them, do I connect a wire to this new wire in order to hook to a button? I feel like there's something I'm missing here for some reason and sorry for being such a noob, I've never pulled out a COM before :/

whenever I connect it all, the sticks and buttons go haywire and press all kinds of things at once :/
I think I may give up and chalk this one up as a failure and count my losses (two controllers (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) )
why does PS3 have to be so much more difficult than 360?

Connect what all? If you have just that one jumper wire in there, correctly, then it should work normally.

Make sure that small piece of foam that's in the plastic bracket and sits under the Daughter board contacts is still there, because if it's missing then it doesn't make a good connection with the controller board when everything is back together and it will act up.

Difficulty is a matter of opinion. This was a full SouthPaw button swap done on the same version of controller - http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=705208

I just meant hooking a wire from the jump to my button on the back of my shell and the other end to the spot where the O is on the board.. the sticks go up and down continuously and random buttons get pressed

and by harder, I meant relatively, this type of thing is easy but for whatever reason, I managed to pull out the TP while I was putting on the back cover with the button installed on the back :/

also, I really appreciate you taking the time out to help me btw

Acts up just having the wires connected? or when you press the new duplicate O button?

If it's acting up when you press the new button then it's either not soldered to the correct spot or you have some solder bridge connecting things that shouldn't be.

You should always glue down your wiring also. Use hot glue, and don't glue it at the solder joint, glue back a bit from it. That will keep the solder joint free in case anything needs to be redone or removed, and it will hold it in place so there's no more trace ripping going on. I also recommend 30awg wire, as it's smaller it's easier to solder to those smaller connections, and it will put less mechanical stress on the connections you make, which is what gluing the wire down prevents.

by act up I mean I can set the controller down and the sticks go haywire by themselves and I couldn't get them to stop, I believe at the small area where the top of the bridge that has 3 small spots all very close to each other, I somehow mixed in one of those vias with the solder point but I'm no expert so that's the only logical conclusion I could come to

again, thank you for your time and your responses

Hi everyone,newbie here (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif).
I recently bought a controller with custom mapping but i hate the analogs of that thing so i decided to add 2 extra buttons on my ps3 controller.
If anyone is so kind to give me a few pointers it would be much appreciated, here the pics:

I looked in so many forums but this one is the only one i found the best info to go ahead with this project.
Whit kind of buttons should i get btw?

Thanks vibes.

You'll have to prep a couple of Vias to solder the X and O wires to, then you'll use TP18 for the common connection for them.

http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=648322

As far as the buttons go, that's a bit of personal preference, as long as you have the room for them and they are a Normally Open (N.O.) Momentary type you can really use whatever you like. The more common ones that are used are Tact switches like these. http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/ALPS/S...lxGEX2zSw%3d%3d

Thanks for replying.
I see soldering the vias will be complicaded so i'm thinking in using conductive glue like this:
http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?TabID=...O&U=Strat15
Will it work?Or should i solder it(i never solder before so i might damage the board lol)

Is this wht a should do?

That's not what you should do at all.

You need to scrape the masking off of the Vias to solder to them on the back side of the board.

I personally wouldn't use conductive glue as it's going to conduct anywhere it gets on the board and you'd still need to prep the Via so there was copper to glue it to so it could conduct, so there's no real advantage to using it here. Practice soldering on something else first to get the hang of it, and make sure you use some 30awg wire.
