Who's Got It?
« on: November 19, 2006, 02:49:00 PM »

Just curious how many of you were able to get a Wii, and what are your first impressions of the console?  Also, how many of you are going to sell it on eBay, as opposed to keeping it?  I'm thinking that there are more people keeping their system this time around, when compared to the PS3.

I got mine at 12:01 also, I played it from the time I got home 12:30 to 10:30 this morning.  I picked up Rayman and the included wii sports.   I love the controller, I can't express my enthusiasm enough for this console and how awesome game play is.   Graphics, are exactly as stated, they are a little grainy IMO but I couldn't care less.    I love my Wii!

in line at 4:30 , got my voucher at 7am, system at 8am, sleep at 9am, up at 3pm, played for the last hour or two.

i got a pretty good deal, had a 10% off target coupon, so i got ed steel, zelda (of course) for $333 out the door... thats a steal.

the setup to wifi is simple, updates system and ready to go.

right now, im impressed.

i like the way the controller senses movement for the most part, especially in boxing.
i thought id feel like a tool flailing the controller around, but  you really get absorbed into the game/

my niece and i played a game of bowling and i lost 163 to 165.. close game, she loves it.

no online yet, dont think its up.

ummm... thats my first impression, although im about to play zelda for 8 hours at least right now so ill know better after that.

its good stuff... i like it

side note.. my niece kept saying "wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii" everytime she bowled a frame... i can see hours of countless multiplayer fun with this.

gotta love the "please stay away from any objects while playing"

went to nintendo world in NYC i thought i  was lucky because i  had a preorder or so i thought. turns out that the line i was standing had both preorder people and walkins. the line wrapped all around the block. the goons at nintendo said they were taking in preorders at 6am and walkins at 8 so i waited and around 9 am they pulled me out of the line and escorted me upstairs and i grabbed my shit. i got and extra wiimote, nunchuk, classic controller, legend of zelda and gt pro.

I live in the bible belt so store here did not open until 1:30pm. I showed up around 12:45pm and was 15th in line. 10 minutes later there were 60 people lined up. I walked out with a Wii and Zelda and there were 10 left.

After I got home I had to clean up the house for 2 hours since I have company coming over this week. After that I called every place I could looking for component cables and no luck.

I just got everything setup and I am updating the console right now. My first order of buisness once it is done is to travel over to Hyrule where I will spend the rest of the night.

I have it up on craigslist. If nobody buys it I will still be a happy man.

Got in line at 4:15 at Target and I was 32 out of 39 consoles.  By 5:00 everyone who showed up didn't get one.  Voucher at 7:00.  Bought it at 8:00 but they ran out of nun-chucks.  Then waited in line at Best Buy for 45 min and got the last nun-chuck because the idiot at the door let me in first because I told him I only wanted accesories.  Everyone behind me was pissed because they had to stand in line to buy the Wii so therefore they couldn't get over to the accessories to pick up their extra controlers before they were all gone.

I got into line at my local target at 4pm on saturday.  Setup my tent, cracked a few beers and watched movies on my laptop.  Later on that night a buddy of mine brought his car down.  He's got a 17" LCD in it and power outlets so we hooked up my 360 and played gears for a few hours.  Drew a pretty big crowd actually and took turns with some of the other campers.  Tickets were distributed at 7 and consoles were snagged at 8am.  I got an extra remote and nunchuck, Rayman and Zelda, and a 2000 point card.  Component cables were MIA.

First impressions.   I am utterly awe struck at how well the remote works.  I mean, holy crap.  I haven't had this much fun with my friends playing video games EVER.  The console is sleek and the UI (while not fully functional) is decent and has a distinct Nintendo feel to everything.  The picture channel is awsome (take notes MS) and WiFi works flawlessly.  My only real dissapointment besides the News/Weather/Internet channels being down was the sweet blue light we've been seeing for months has been mostly cut.  I mean, it's there but it's never on.  It only blinks once for a split second when you turn the console on without a game in it.  I want that sucker on at all times except for gameplay.  What the hell?
