info on above product taken from site

-It will work with VGA cards that has TVOut function capability through the VGA connector.
Check your Video Card manual or manufacturer to make sure that your VGA card has TVOut function capability.

-People complaining that you can no connect a laptop to a TV need to know that it is becasue you computer outputs in RGB and your TV needs NTSC. If you want to do this, you will need a converter like this one: http://www.monoprice.......at=2&style=

i pulled that information from user comments left about the product, you are disagreeing with the people that own it, not me.  recomending a video card with dvi and buying a new tv is hardly a solution.  if he just plans on using the pc for videos and movies, it will look fine!  composite and svideo are fine... tvs are only 640 by 480 anyways. you will loose some quality by using the converterbox but as you stated, you have no open pci slots.

Ok sorry about that.  I didn't mean it that way.  I just meant I disagree with that product.  Secondly, i didn't say go buy a new television.  I was just giving a solution if he already has a television with dvi/hdmi ports
