While all of you guys make excellent points, you fail misserably at one thing. Fox news is a network so powerful, that all the other news networks are forced to attack it. Media, and I mean all forms of print and electronic media, has been a slave to a narrow audience for quite some time now. EVERY form of Media and I mean every form (I have personally met with the person in charge of ethics and standards at the chicago tribune, new york times, la times and washington post) is a slanted peice by definition. Whether its slanted on purpose by its scope, or whether it becomes slanted by errors in ommission, it is bias. There are not to many good journalist but if you understand journalism, you will realise that it has a ethical obligation to provide information that the public should be aware of and protecting the public from false information. These are standards taught by any TOP journalism school in the nation. Almost no media outlet, whether it be TV, PRINT or INTERNET, employ's more than 1 or 2 (maybee) good journalist. Fox news, while it may not be perfect, has a few very, very good journalist. No body goes into something with negative intentions but the business turns people. These are regular people, not some strage race and they are subject to the same faults everybody else is. While people may disagree with O'Reilly's style for instance, there is no better person are owning a debate that Mr. O'Reilly. At the start of every day, he recieves prob 50 or 60 headlines or stories and picks his favorate 3. Now this is a form of Bias but as a show that runs 1 hour long technically only has the ability to cover about 5 stories, this is a MUST. He then digs deeper than ANY other journalist in the new to find out everything there is to know about the chosen stories. Very few people are capable of this or abibe by such strict ethic. It's a shame when you see people such as Dan Rather, formally of CBS, fall to such bad indivdiual bias that it overrides his ethical and moral obligations to the news standards. Every outlet has bias, but people choose only to see what they want to see. While FOX news may not be as fair and balanced as they proclaim, They are upfront with the fact that they are a republican or actually CONSERVATIVE station. Fox New's watchers, taken by an independent polling company, have been shown to be the most loyal and informed of all network news viewers. Like it or hate it, facts are facts. Fox News also gets more viewers than MSNBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, and Headline news COMBINED. CNN, CBS, ABC, and headline news have LONG BEEN identified as liberal or Left wing advocates and policies and ethics. This was obvious to how they handled the Social Security issues. Before Bush announced his plan, The Networks were screaming to hear something about how the government would deal with the crisis. Now, they act like anything suggested is an absolute joke and shoudln't even lie in consideration. This is another example of Bias. They ALL HAVE IT! They are propaganda machines because thats what people want. They want sensationalism, not news.
