I've heard of ghosting on the dell 2405 via component.  I'd recommend getting the MS vga cable.

no no no no no no no

The ms vga cable is nothing but utter crap on a 2405, the washed out image is horrible. Either try a dif set of component cables or call dell and get a replacement asap.

Also, I use mine in 720p, so try that.

It used to be before the recent big dash update.  Have you tried your monitor with the vga cables with the dash update?

I used to use a 2405fpw for the 360 with component cables, and the only time I noticed severe ghosting was when it was set to 1080i (which it almost never was, because of that).  I did plenty o Halo 2 live on that monitor as well, no problems.

I own a 2405.  Any interlaced image produces a lot of ghosting.  Use 720p, and you will have a beautiful picture.

I didn't notice any moving bars with mine...

The only thing I did notice was some slight banding with white screens on the original xbox, and some strange image artifacts with gamecube component output, but there weren't any problems with the 360.  Maybe it's interferance from another source?  I don't know... maybe you could post some pics of it or something?

When did you get your monitor?  How long is the monitor on before you start having problems?  I know the electronics aren't the most reliable in those monitors, like problems with powersupplies and backlights making humming or high pitched noises after a while of being powered on, etc.  Do you notice any problems with other component sources?

Ya Ive switched to 720p and the ghosting stoped.
Would there be any significant image quality
increase if I got the VGA cable?

Well it sounds like you have a hum bar (look it up on google).  Its usually produced by coax cable because of a bad grounding.

I had the same purble/black bars slowly creeping up my screen and disconnected the coax and viola, the bar was gone.  Called the cable company and they fixed it.

Good luck.  It drove me nuts LOL.

Known Issues with Specific Games

Halo® 2
You may occasionally observe "ghost" images displayed on the screen. To work around this, return to the Dashboard and restart the game. Additionally, there are performance problems when playing on the Backwash map.

I don't know if they have fixed this yet but it is still in the FAQ. I played through Halo2 on 360 and I got ghosts quite frequently.

Wow, 2.5 month thread revival blink.gif

To the poster above, WHY are you not playing at 1920x1080progressive via VGA?  Why are you playing at 1080i stretched to 16:10????

If anyone else was having the same ghosting problem I was when running games in 1080i via component, I have found a solution since 1080i is 1900x1080 and this monitor has a native resolution of 1920x1200 it was having to scale it up to fill the screen and I guess it doesn't have a very good video processor because it caused ghosting anyway all you need to do to fix this it switch over to component mode on your monitor go into the settings then image settings and change the scaling to 1:1 and that fixed the problem now i have a beautiful 1080i image.

i have 2405FPW too, how can i set 1:1 scaling? i dont find such setting
im using composite and i get only up to 480i, if i use component will i get higher resolution?

Another big revival of this thread...you posted a month ago, so I don't know if you'll even read this, but...

Yes, you will get higher resolution options with the component or vga cable.  It's not possible to send a high def signal through the yellow cable (composite).

As far as 1:1 scaling goes, there should be an option for that in one of the submenus....I forget which one (I no longer own a 2405)....look for a "Fill" "Aspect" and "1:1" option.
