Chevy Truck Diesel Problem
« on: October 08, 2005, 11:40:00 AM »

2004 Chevy Silverado K3500
6600 Duramax Turbo Diesel

So here's the problem.

While driving for no reason the truck will start rev limting the engine at 2000 rpm. Everything else seems fine, tranny.shifts well, all temps are normal, has oil pressure, good voltage. We pulled over, put it in park and floored it, stuck at 2000 rpm. If we turn the truck off and restart it, then it will redline at about 3300 rpm as normal. Drive away and everything is ok for awhile, sometimes days, then it does it again.

Checked all fluids, all good.

We are currently driving to Detriot right now and it has happened twice in 10 minutes. It's ok right now.

It's happened in good and bad weather, hot and cold outside temps.

It almost seems like it is going into some kind of protection mode.

We will be calling Chevy on Monday, but if it acts up again it would be nice to fix it right away.

Suggestions?

Disconect the battery from both the pos and neg terminals for about 30 mins and it hsould wipe the ecu and this could fix your problem. Sounds like a computer problem, or maybe its a fuel problem? Anyway, let Chevy know about it and let them fix it, but definately find out what causes it.
