Even though some people have good luck, modding is really not a beginners sport.

I don't know how many electronic projects I've done, everything from design work to final preps for items I've sold... yet in spite of that, to do the Xbox install properly takes TIME, patience, experience, and a -BIG- magnifying glass and loup!

Most people should let someone else take the risk, who are WILLing to fix their own botched jobs.

Considering the ground point is SOOOO close to the 2nd layer of the Nvidia chip transfer/power line it could be possible that some excess solder heated after a while and flowed causing a short which would have bridged the trace to the Nvidia chip causing your burnout.
