Why Does Xlink Get Its Own Forum?
« on: March 20, 2004, 06:30:00 AM »

There seems to be about a dozen tunneling softwares, and only Xlink gets its own forum.  Why about XBconnect, gamespy, etc...
What's special about Xlink?
By the way, I'm new to tunneling, so I haven't tried any of the tunneling softwares.  <

I'd say because :

1) Its the one that causes the lessest lag
2) Is used by the users for all games
3) Is being updated and improoved very often
4) The Team does speak publically
5) its not payware
6) it is being used by users

XBConnect causes some more lag then Xlink and is only filled with Halo gamers,
not pretty cool if you want to play other games. Then add to the fact that they
make a pro version for cash, not seriously a "community / homebrew" application
anymore if you go commercial.

GameSpy isn't used at all ;)

I prefer Xlink over them all personally as i am not much of a Halo Multiplayer
gamer. But indeed i think Xlink does deserve it's own forum.

You might wanna wait til a moderator replies to this ;)  <

i would say mainly the fact that xlink is totally homebrew (as was boxlink) and for the fact that xbc has their own forums on their own site. Not to mention the whole freeware thing that they didnt really have going for the longest time...

I think they folded after being ridiculed for so long about it, but its about time they listened to their users about things like that.

I will lock this now, so that it doesnt turn into a flame fest, because i am sure they would like it to.  <
