Dvd 12v Power Source
« on: September 25, 2013, 09:58:00 AM »

Dear Xbox people out here.

I've a simple theory about the 12v DVD source. Everyone seems to be speculating about the 12v DVD source. and if it is recommended to use and if yes what the maximum energy you can take from it before it gives up.

I just received the Xbox(Xenon_Retail) PCB schematics. And there are some interesting findings:

According to the [V_12P0] note there seems to be no special mosfet/transistor only a couple of capacitors to filter and provide some power when there is a voltage drop. There is no risk that they will get damaged during heavy load.

So with this knowledge I suspect its save to use the DVD power source for common fans or LED lightning. No brushed or Neon(Cold Cathode) tubes since they will create a decent amount of electronic noise.
