Xk3y Usb Plug Mod
« on: February 25, 2013, 02:50:00 PM »

My dvd drive crapped out on me so I decided to replace it with an ODDE.
I received the first gen. xkey that doesn't have a flat flex cable attachment.
Instead it just has a micro usb wire that you have to smash between the case shell.

I didn't like that feature at all, so I decided to use a micro usb male to usb female cable.
Just plugged the micro usb male into the xkey main board and cut a hole in the case/chassis for the usb female.

I like it a lot since there are no hanging wires and I can either plug the remote, hard drive or usb hub into it.

Xbox with CPU heat sink on GPU since there isn't a disc drive.

Really nice! Kinda looks funny though with the duct tape and cardboard on top the CUP and GPU heatsinks, but if it works, it works mang, seeing as you don't have to see it when the case is together.  Great Job!  I had the same idea with using the grey side vents in the unused drive tray a while back, before my Zephyr crapped out on me.

Good idea, anyway the V2 is much better as you don't have to do all this.
