Can I Move My Hd To My New Xbox?
« on: April 08, 2005, 05:35:00 PM »

I have a 250 gb hdd with all my games and EVERYTHING on it, it's filled.

The 1.0 xbox it is in, got fucked up, and I bought a new xbox, a 1.6.

I am installing the same x2.6 chip from my old xbox in my new xbox tonight.

Will I be able to put the 250 gb hdd in my new xbox and have it work fine?

Oh, and it is currently locked. I have no way of booting my old xbox, the lpc is fucked up.

So can I put a locked HD in a new chipped xbox?

Thanks,
-Danny

if you used configmagic or evox to lock it you can use atapwd to unlock it..
and you have to remove the old dash files from it and copy the new ones...

btw where do you live and how much you want for the old xbox ?

nope, it works like a charm... i had the problem taht the eeprom was corupt, and only eeprom backup was on the hd... so i used atapwd to unlock hd... and after a bit found out that i could used embedded eprom with a stock unlocked hd and use configmagic onthefly edit to fix it...

but atapwd only unlocks the HD.. so you wont loose any files

You stated in your other thread that your  box would boot without the modchip installed.  So you could hotswap drives...

OK, I found a few tutorials by searching around, but each one includes a step where I need to get my HD key by booting my xbox with the HD in it. MY OLD XBOX WONT BOOT! So how in the fuck am I supposed to do this?

Well, aparently, I'm going to HAVE to get the old mobo working so I can plug the 250 gb into it and unlock it so I can use it on my new xbox  sad.gif

Anyone know anyway around having to do this?

A friend of mine had this EXACT same problem, but he said he desoldered the EEPROM chip from the old mobo an put it onto the new one, and it worked.... But I'm not going near my eeprom with a soldering iron, lol

This thread is a lifesaver!  I just had a similar problem, I was trying to replace the eeprom on a 1.6 box after upgrading the hardrive to avoided being booted from LIVE but somehow I must have screwed it up. Now all the box will do is flash the green light a few times without any video or audio output at all. Luckily I did use Config Magic to lock the HD so I should be able to at least save the HD using atapwd and the master password TEAMASSEMBLY and someone mentioned using an embedded eeprom... well maybe that's my ticket to getting the box up and working again. Thanks for at least giving me some hope and a direction to start working in!!
