Dvd Drive Stays Open-tray Motor Never Stops-help

My dvd rom drive recently started opening upon power up and will not go back in.  When I unplug it will go back in manually.  I noticed that the drive tray motor comes on, tray opens and the motor keeps running.  It never stops until I power down.  I replaced the drive completely problem still exsists.  Any ideas????????
