you could do this, don't spoof, flash as a stock sammy, do the update, then spoof back, or go buy a benq and make it legit.

I have the fat Model with a BenQ drive. It hasn't been updated at all since the last 2-3 updates (whenever they started flashing the drives).

I'm out of the loop on what I have to do with it now. I keep hearing things about locked drives and new firmware coming out and such. Can someone explain things to me, or direct me to a source?

yeah your benq drive will be flashed by the update, recommended you flash back to stock before taking the update, then flash with latest 1.9 fw

On another note, I still have 1.9, and does the AP2.6 only apply to backups?
IE can I buy and run original AP25/26 games and play them without the need to reflash with 1.91?

Yes you can, no need to refalsh. You'd be better off this way, because you'd still have the black screen protection.
Just FYI, on any CFW the original games work flawlessly...
