Using Xbox On Vga /hdmi Monitor
« on: May 20, 2012, 09:21:00 AM »

You neglect to mention how your Xbox is modded.

Native VGA with a VGA BIOS / Softmod / boot disc would be slightly better quality in theory, and it's certainly cheaper if you can solder your own Xbox to VGA cable, but a component to VGA adapter works fine, and should avoid the SOG problem.

If you use an external converter then component to VGA is fine. Component to HDMI is probably overkill - you are simply adding an extra layer of A-D-A conversion (with its associated noise) for no benefit.

Which "Component to VGA cable" did you try?

Thanks for the response!  I tried a cable that looks like this: http://www.amazon.co...G...9709&sr=8-1

I used it with a coupler:

to connect my OEM Microsoft HD A/V cable that has the optional optical audio input on it.  Kept saying no VGA signal detected when the monitor was in VGA mode.

Box is hard modded with a 120 GB hd and evox dash.

Will quality will be lower with the external VGA converter?  Can the xbox display in 720p through the monitor using the external VGA converter below:
