MS has never been known to scan drives for "odd" files - though they could well do it if they wanted to.

Actually, their Live protection is just effective enough to prevent people using mods online, and just half-assed enough so that they don't lose all the modders from their subscription base. Pretty much perfect really.  smile.gif

As for your specific problem, your post is confusing. You say "one of the drives" for the "legit" box is dead. Huh?! If the unchipped box has a damaged HDD, hotswapping won't help you... Unless you've ripped the EEPROM of the unchipped box and locked the drive for use with that.  blink.gif  Can you elaborate?

Nevertheless, continuously hotswapping a given HDD is a bad idea. Each time you do it you're more likely to fry it on the next attempt. There are far safer methods available via softmodding.
