Did I Screw My Eeprom?
« on: December 11, 2004, 01:21:00 AM »

Hi guys

I recently soft modded (metoo) my xbox and everything was working fine until I accidentally changed the video settings from xbmp. Since then, instead of getting the evox dashboard, I get a few multicolored lines on the upper part of the screen.

Read a few other posts related to this problem. What they suggest is:

1. Blindly traverse the evox/xbmp menu to restore the video settings
But in my case, it doesnt even seem to load the dashboard

2. Try enigmah video switcher
My FTP doesnt seem to work even after removing the AV cable as suggested by others (if I boot without the cable, the light flashes green/yellow and it doesnt seem to do anything at all).
Loading Enigmah from a disc  doesnt either. I believe its because my box is softmodded

3. Modchip my xbox
I wish I could fix the problem without going this far.

Are these symptoms those of a corrupted EEPROM? If yes, can I restore a backup copy? How easy is it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Nope :( It boots fine but then no video or sound!
I dont understand why changing the video settings screws up the loading process
I thought first I was only unable to get the image due to the bad video setting but now it looks like the whole system hangs up after the XBox logo
Starts stinking badly... Help please!

You will need a modchip.  Not the end of the world, modchips are much better than softmods.
