Xerc - A New Ir-on-mod
« on: January 13, 2005, 01:59:00 PM »

(originally posted in the General Hardware/Technical fourm but this might be a better place)

So.. Here is a new Ir-Mod that is open source so that you can change the buttons and functions as you wish. It is based on a Atmel ATtiny 15 mcu. It supports both 5V and 3.3V. Please come with suggestions on how to make it better. And It would be neat if someone could try it at 3.3V, coz I have only tried it at 5V.

It has support for both the xbox remote and the philips rc5 protocol (rc5 really soon. I just have to clean up the code).

well.. just have a look. Here it is:

XERC - Xbox Extended Remote Control

What part number did you use for the IR Detector? I'd like to build a couple of these.

I used a Everlight IR-module (ELIRM860X   where X is just a minor difference in the models). That was the only IR-module i found here in sweden. But I guess that any IR-module will do... but you might want to change the capacitor and the resistance. They probably aren't critical in the first place but I used them to keep it stable.

BAck to the top with another question.

I'm no programmer so I have no idea how the program works. How hard would it be to change the length of time the power button goes low?

On Aladdin chips tapping the power button loads MS bios, holding it for more than a second loads the bios on the Aladdin.

On an X3 it's the other way around. So having the button you already have for power be a tap as it already is and having another be a hold would be a great addition to your already great mod.

Well looks like you have it down for 200ms stock,

For X3 and Aladdin I'd say 2 seconds would be plenty of time. Now Are you gonna tie that to a different button on the remote?

okay.. what I can do is add a different aladdin version on the homepage with the select button tied to it and then you can change it to whatever button you want if you don't like it! =)

compare the smartxx version to the aladdin version and you'll see that it's really easy to change it.

if you don't get it just post here again and I'll explain it to ya.. I'm a bit drunk and quite tired at the moment so I will not explain now.. but in the morning if you have posted.. I will... =)

(ps. I did a 2.5s pause just to be sure... if it doesent work its just to increase it)

and now the homepage is updated with the new version.. check it out!

Looks like the one I bought from Bmmods.com.  But I put my IR reciever in the little holes about controller ports 3&4 and it is completely invisible.
