Dvd Drive Not Reading With Sata Hd Installed
« on: August 10, 2013, 06:08:00 AM »

I have come across a weird problem.

I have a 1.1 XBox TSOP flashed to X2 5035
I am using an 80 Pin IDE cable
I bought the DealExtreme SATA/IDE adapter (apparently I got V1 of this adapter)
I have tried the adapter in both master and cable select modes.
The HDD is a 500GB Seagate 7200 RPM laptop drive.
The hard drive is working fine and operates wonderfully. Games and dash load up fine.

I just noticed that the DVD drive recognizes discs but will not read them. Microsoft dash says all discs are unreadable. DVD Movies, Retail Game Discs, Audio CDs, etc. XBMC simply says the disc drive is busy if there is a disc inserted. Booting anything from disc is out of the question.

I have tried a Samsung and Hitachi drive. Same issue. I verified them both working fine in a softmodded 1.6 XBox. Is it possible the SATA adapter is screwing with the DVD drives? I will try installing my original HDD and see if the DVD drive works then.

I also flashed the Evox M8+ bios to see if there were any issues with the X2 5035. Same problem. The only possible issue I have left is the SATA adapter. Or possibly the HDD itself? I have another full size non-laptop 500GB SATA drive I could try...
