Free60 Adds Linux Support for Toshiba-Samsung Drives
Posted by XanTium | May 3 00:41 EST | News Category: Xbox360

Free60.org now found a way to add support for Toshiba-Samsung ODDs (which hanged on the SATA device detection) to boot Linux on your Xbox360 (using the hypervisor vulnerability, KingKong shader hack and ODD FW hack - more info):

We now have a fix for Samsung users We will soon release an updated LiveCD. If you want to build your own kernel, see Linux Kernel Development for patches against linux-2.6.21

Sweet!! news from the Homebrew front, not that this is going to benefit me directly atm but this is awesome.  Keep up the good work guys, hopefully someone out there is getting close to finding another exploit.

that is terrific news.

How are the drivers for the video display and etc coming along.

And when is it going to be fully softmodded to where you wont need a Disc to load every time.

Yea...     That would be frick'n cool.  Softmod just like the xbox1 pretty much.

I'm still waiting for the day.  When that happens, I will be buying the Xbox360 Elite.

Anyways Hope this can be cleared up and maybe some news given about what is going on.

Thanks a mills.

Kernel 4532  which we are 99% sure that it will be running on those elite's isn't vulnerable, so you go buy your elite and wait till the good and hooded hackers tongue.gif  find a vulnerability.

Till then.. let's sit our asses down and wait for THE miracle to happen  biggrin.gif

Are there any technical details of how they accomplished this?

Might be of some use for drive flashing programs.

Awesome, I have a Hitachi in my Linux box already, but glad to see Sammy supported now. Major props to the guys over at free60  pop.gif

And to the guy that thinks he'll be softmodding: Not only does the Elite have the un-hackable kernel, it should be a long time before we see a softmod. There is still much work that has to be done, so don't expect anything anytime soon.

That is perfectly cool. I was just woundering how that was coming along was all.  And no kernal is unhackable.      All we need is a modchip that can hold two kernals. smile.gif   That way you can install a lil switch on the outside or hit a button on the controler when powering on to identify which kernal to load. hehehe.

But ya.  I do wish a softmod would happen soon.   Even though I am suprised it hasn't happened sooner yet.   But I'm more about the PS3 being moded then the X360.   got more power to run ya emulators for the bigger systems with that beast smile.gif

Anyways ya.    Can't wait smile.gif  Hope to see it sooner then everyone plans on.
