Cannot Detect Pc Via Media Connect
« on: December 05, 2005, 02:00:00 PM »

I'm running XP service pack 2, not media center, and having problems streaming.

My PC is set up with 2 Nic's, and using ICS. Xbox Live works fine, and the PC detected the xbox 360 when installing media connect, but when try to connect via the xbox 360 it is unable to detect PC.

I've tried to play with some of the ip settings, but not 100% sure what I'm doing.

The nic that is connected to 360 has a set IP of 192.168.0.1 and subnet of 255.255.255.0 , as this is what i use to stream via the original xbox and xbox media center.

Just don't seem to be able to get this to link up!!

I just struggled with it for half an hour as well, just go to the media area, then go to pictures or music, it will ask if you want to connect to your computer, and then it should be all set up.

Worked for me.

Good luck.

This has appeared to have helped some people:

If you are experiencing an "Invalid Connection Data" screen on the TV
attached to the Xbox 360 when attempting to connect your Xbox to a Windows
Media Center 2005 PC, please use the following steps to correct the problem:

1) At a command prompt, run: "regsvr32 %windir%\system32\rsaenh.dll"
2) Reboot
3) Attempt to connect to Xbox 360

If keep getting the "Invalid Connection Data" screen trying when trying to
connect the Xbox 360 and the fix above does NOT solve your problem please
post a reply to this thread and let us know.

Help !

I just got my new xbox 360 yesterday and I have tried everything I can find and still have this issue. I am connected by wire to a linksys 100mb switch to a Dell XPS running MCE. The switch is connected to an actiontec dsl router for internet connection. The xbox does the internet connection fine but not the lan connection to the MCE pc. I have removed firewall software, run the regsvr thing, removed and reinstalled the media center extension software, tried to initiate in many different ways but cannot get the PC software to syncrhronize with the XBOX. Continue to get the "Inavalid Connection Data" message on every attempt?

I am out of ideas... Can you help? Please advise ....
