You don't have to remove it, but instead just bridge the two solder points located near the RT63.  There is a picture of the bridge point somewhere.

Hmm interesting stuff. Looks like I can't even try if I wanted to because they guy who jtagged my box didnt do the lpt port. So just USB upgrades for me. Im pretty sure he just did the diodes as well, no resister removal. Dont really see a reason to upgrade dash now anyways. No new features I would use.

Yeah, I think a majority of users don't really need to update to the latest XBR 9199, unless it prevents them from playing a new game that requires the update.

no dont have 2 update until a game comes up that requires it but at least this stops mw2 hackers !! jtag's should not be online.

Well this is what im thinking.I havent seen any real reason for the update as of yet.Other than Microsoft making a few extra quid on the new usb storage devices. It would be nice on the official new XBR_4 if the storage limit was removed and we could use any size device as official storage. But one can only dream i suppose.

Agreed I could care less about the xbox nxe dashboard features right now, except for future game support.

But I am greatly looking forward to new XBR features aswell.

yeah let's worry about that the day a new dash version is released.  Something will be figured out by time it becomes an issue.  Or you just play on your live box in the meantime.

Everyone did you not pay attention to the front page news here yesterday... Yes their is a new update and no their is not a way to update your XBR too this new version yet it has not been hacked. The avatar update was safe because it was just an extra part of the same dash. This will break your Jtagged console if you update. Using the old instructions on building an XBR image from scratch will not update you too a hacked version of 9199.

You can just use flash360 thru freestyle or some other alt dashboard to update to xbr3 9199 update..
