Questions About Flashing With My Laptop

You will need a native SATA port. And if your laptop does not have an expansion slot then you will need to buy or barrow a desktop PC.

Questions About Flashing With My Laptop
« Reply #2 on: September 15, 2011, 09:21:00 PM »

Is it possible to flash my XBOX 360 with a Lenovo R61 laptop?

If not...

Can I hook some sort of hub up to it that has whatever input I need but goes through a usb port on my laptop?

If not...

My desktop PC has EIDE harddrives in it as far as I remember. What will I need to add to my Desktop PC to make this work if it isnt possible to flash my 360 with my laptop?

thank you for any help!!!

You need a VIA VT6421 SATA controller card for your PC.

An X360USB Pro will allow you to do that. Or you can follow tomgreen's advice for using your PC to flash it.

Do I need anything else with it? When I searched out some youtube videos for X360USB some people are also using other things with it.

Probe III
CK3
Molex Adapter
Do I need those things as well?

Im no expert but im going to say you atleast need a probe. and possibly the molex adapter for the power unless you use your pc for power or the 360 for the power.

Is the only difference between those two things the price really? Or are there other pros and cons?

The SATA card obviously is internal and goes in your desktop. X360USB can be used through USB on any computer or laptop. I, personally, find it a lot more appealing and easier to use. It's much less of a hassle.

So all I need to buy is...

X360USB Pro
Probe III
Molex Adapter
And I can flash my Xbox 360 with that?

Correct. Although, you may not need a probe. Maybe I skipped over the part where you stated what drive you have, but probe's are only needed for certain Liteon drives. If you don't have a Liteon, then it is unnecessary to buy a probe.

Thanks for letting me know!

I haven't opened my 360 yet because I didnt think I needed to until I had all the tools to work on it. So I'll open it up and figure out which drive I have so i know if I need to buy a probe as well.

thanks for helping me out =]
