Idea: Raw Dump Of 360 Game
« on: February 04, 2006, 03:57:00 PM »

My apologies if this has been brought up before. From what I understand, the only way to make a raw dump of a 360 game is to put a large DVD (8 GB+) disk in your PC drive to fake the disk size and then swap it out with a real 360 game without ejecting it.  We then use Gael360's tool to create the dump.

My idea:  Is it possible for someone to create or for Gael360 to edit his software to make the PC think there is a large disk in the drive even though it is empty?  This way you avoid swapping disks all together? Here is how it would work.  My PC DVD-Rom drive is empty.  I start up the "DVD disk size" software and now my PC thinks that there is a 8 GB DVD in the drive even though it is empty.  I can then open my DVD-ROM tray and insert the original XBOX game, and then close the tray.  MY PC will not scan the 360 disk and see the invalid TOC, because the software is emulating that a large disk is still in the drive.  I can then proceed to make my RAW dump.
