When properly adjusted there's no comparison between CRT and HDTV, CRT is not even close.

I think he meant a CRT Computer monitor. And such a monitor for will look way better and sharper that a rear projection CRT HDTV. Then again your friends HDTV should be6-10 times the size of the monitor.

I'm using a 19" Viewsonic VX924 with 3ms refresh. Its much clearer than my friends 88cm plasma. LCDs rock!

CRT is the best currently available technology for TV or PC monitors, period.  LCD, plasma, and projections have not come even close.

I got a relitivly cheap 1080p / computer monitor from costco, 20.1" 8ms, i think, refresh, and good contrast.  At the time it was $380 now i think its about $349 or so, it is a sceptere, kind of a generic, but i dont know what the difference is. wink.gif

I haven't managed to find the answer to what is the best picture I can get a 360 to display on my 1600x1200 TFT? Does the 360 support this resolution? Or will I have to have the image stretched or with black borders?

Cheers

Stretched and/or with black borders, or really small floating in the center of the screen.  It all depends on how the monitor actually handles scaling/stretching, if at all.

Make/model?

Everytime I see an xbox 360 hooked up to a monitor via vga the color looks washed out when compared to being hooked up via component.  This is on both lcd and crt.  Has anyone else noticed the difference?

I hate how people dismiss projectors. Had a kid arguing with me that his 22" 720p lcd tv was better than my xga projector.  MY screen is 7 feet across, i dont care if i have to dim the lights a little, at least i get to sit several feet from my screen while he is 2 feet from his screen to actually notice the difference b/w HD and normal. and we paid the same price for both of our systems. so whats better?

I use a 1280x1024 LCD half the time when playing Xbox 360, and I noticed the same exact thing.  I wish someone would explain why the colors are perfect through component on a HDTV, but are washed out (not to mention the imperfections in the picture) when displayed through VGA.  Someone please help/explain!

It's funny how they say that Condemned is unplayable because of how dark it is.  Last time I checked conventional CRTs had much better contrast ratios than the majority of HDTVs available on the market.  rolleyes.gif  The first time that I played through condemned was on a 27" CRT and I had no issues.

First time I popped in condemned on my LCD it ran perfect it was dark but not to dark.  A lighter quake type dark. And I use a viewsonic vx922 with a 2 ms response and I used to use a Samsung 913v. Both were PIMP.
