I'm glad you got some results ... no offense though ...

1. Those cuts look awful.
2. If you glue your fans in place, how do you open the case again?
3. The modified fan shroud ... couldn't you just use the stock one and put cardboard additions to it?

Another thing you do not want to pull power from the DVD drive as it will kill it faster, you want to solder to the pins at the bottom of the power plug or somewhere else.
