Noob Looking To Add An External 120mm Fan
« on: June 01, 2008, 10:55:00 PM »

Hey, I want to attach a 120mm right over where the cpu is. I see many people have done this, i believe it is a worthwhile mod.

So i cut the panel with dremel. Any advice here?
I'm clueless to where to obtain the power for the fan. Where do i solder? How do i wire?

I'm also running a whisper max, so will I overdrain the power source?

thanks a ton.

Refer to this link which gives you high res pics of alot (if not all) of power sources on the 360 mobo you can use for your fan (All credit for thread goes to RDC, also THANKS RDC FOR THIS THREAD!!! [This threadis also located in the Tut's section]):

I used one of the 12v sources from a MOSFET tab and my fan works fine. Hope this answers your first question. Now I'm not sure what you mean by your second question so if you could just clarify. AFAIK there should not be any overload of the PSU if you solder up a fan and have your Whisper Max but RDC would be the man to refer to for this.

Man... please don't do this.. Just ut in a core cooler or somethin.

Slapping a huge fan on the side of your box will make an otherwise good looking machine look terrible. Just my two cents anyways.
