List Of Vga Resolutions And...
« on: November 21, 2005, 10:51:00 PM »

640 x 480     full and wide
848 x 480     wide only
1024 x 768     full and wide
1280 x 720     wide only
1280 x 768     wide only
1280 x 1024     full and wide
1360 x 768     wide only

I was hoping for a 1920 x 1080 option to go along with my 1920 x 1080P 46" LCD...but no such luck. I went with the 1280 x 720 option since it is the only TRUE 16:9 option from this list.

I did have my 360 hooked up with component cables pushing out 1080i...my TV ups everything to 1080P anyway. I have to say the VGA looks alot better. Smoother edges and better color...not quite as bright of picture as the component cables, but all around alot better.

I also noticed the original Xbox games didn't look any different when I was using the component cables, but with the VGA pumping out 1280 x 720 the original games looked sweet as candy. I noticed one strange thing while playing the original Xbox games at this setting...the games seemed to be displayed in an "off" ratio. The full screen games looked to be 4:4 instesd of 4:3. and the 16:9 games looked like 14:9 ratio. A small price for the sweet graphics that these games now have. I hope this helps anyone debating on getting the VGA cables.

i was hoping for a 1440 x 900, as that is what my monitor is. but there is a good selection of reolutions there.

what other sort of settings are there (to do with video in vga mode), that you can play with?

I'm dissapointed in there not being an 800x600 mode... that's apretty popular mode with projectors.

EDIT: BTW... I'm adding this to the sticky  wink.gif

I have one question, my new lcd is a standard 1280 by 1024, but that isn't listed as a resolution on the xbox's resolution selector.  I can't believe that wouldn't be a supported resolution, so what am I doing wrong?

Hey when you hook up a CRT monitor (mine is 19" currently in 1600x1200 on my Mac) can you change the resolution on the X360 or how do I change it? Thanks. Can you also change the refresh rate with VGA, cause 60Hz aint good for the eyes!

So you would say it's worth the $40 to play on a 20" CRT monitor in HD?

I called M$ tech support and they told me that was a small glitch or oversight that was only fixed a couple days ago.  Just download the patch on live and you can have beautiful 1280x1024 gaming yourself.

I've got a dell ultrasharp 2005fpw. I've been using it via vga with the highest res. My monitors native is 1680x1050 and has a 16:10 aspect ratio. It does strech it from my understanding. What resolution should I be using? Should my monitor be set to 1:1, aspect, or full?

If u use a 16:9 resolution setting... on a 4:3 monitor.... does it give you a letterbox ?? Or does it want to use the entire screen?
