NBA 2K6 Achievement Guide
by: Twistedsymphony

General Advice
- All of the achievements in this game can easily be earned under default settings with any team. If you get stuck there are some things you can do to make these already easy achievements come even easier. You can give yourself more time by Going into the option and increasing the quarter length from 5minutes up to 12minutes. If you're still having a hard time in the option menu under "Game Play" you can lower the difficulty to "Rookie" also in the options menu under "Game Sliders" you can lower the CPU's abilities and Boost your own. Beyond that you play as a strong team and force the computer to play as a weak team. There are several teams with an overall score of "100" I prefer "West" personally. The weakest team in the game is the "Raptors" with a score of "55".

- You can also check your progress at any time by pausing the game and selecting "Game Stats"

Make 15 3-Pointers In One Game - 150GP
This was achieved by making 15 3-pointers in a single game.
"3 pointers" are earned by making a basket while standing outside of the very large arch on the court. This achievement is for the total number of 3-pointers made by the team within a single game.

The easiest way to do this is to make sure to take control of the ball yourself as the computer won't often go for 3-point shots.

Once you've accomplished this you'll see a VIP lock icon across the bottom of the screen saying you've made 15 3-pointers in a single game. You will receive the Achievement at the end of the game.

Score 50 Points With Any Player - 150GP
This was achieved by scoring 50 points in a game with any player.
This is a fairly straight forward achievement simply score 50 points or more with one player throughout the course of a game.

Be careful that if you start making points with a particular player that he doesn't get benched before you reach your goal. To avoid this pause the game and in the game play options switch substitutions from "Automatic" to "Manual" This will ensure that your player stays in the game. It can also be helpful to turn off fatigue and injuries  as well so you don't risk tiring him out or injuring him before you reach your goal. In addition to that some might find it helpful to turn off the option to switch players on pass, this means you remain in control of the same player until you manually switch.

Once you've accomplished this you'll see a VIP lock icon across the bottom of the screen saying you've scored 50 points in a single game with a single player. You will receive the Achievement at the end of the game.

Score 140 Points With Any Team - 200GP
This was achieved by scoring 140 points in a game with any team.
This is another fairly straight forward achievement simply have your team score 140 points or more in a game.

This can be tricky if the quarters are set to the default of 5 minutes. If you can make 3-pointers reliably go for those. It's also helpful to steal the ball from the other team every chance you get. Basically just make as many baskets as possible, preferably 3-pointers.

Once you've accomplished this you'll see a VIP lock icon across the bottom of the screen saying you've scored 140 points in a single game. You will receive the Achievement at the end of the game.

Grab 20 Rebounds With Any Player - 250GP
This was achieved by getting 20 rebounds in a game with any player.
A rebound is when a player grabs the ball after a failed shot at the basket. There are two types of rebounds Offense and Defensive. An offensive rebound is when a member of your team fails to make a shot and you keep the ball in your team's possession and a defensive rebound is when a member of the opposing team fails to make a shot and you bring the ball back into your team's possession. It doesn't matter which type of rebound you perform so long as you make 20 rebounds with a single player in a game.

In my opinion this is the hardest achievement of the game I found the easiest way to do this is to pick a team with good rebound players (like "West" described at the beginning of the guide) and simply let the computer do all the rebounding for you. Rather then stealing the ball from the opposing team just let them attempted to make baskets and let the rebounders on your own team retrieve the ball after their failed attempts.

Alternatively you could play with a second controller controlling a person on your team. Have that person miss shots while you recover them. It helps if their game sliders for shot making are all the way down and yours are all the way up.

Once you've accomplished this you'll see a VIP lock icon across the bottom of the screen saying you've made 20 rebounds with a single player in a game. You will receive the Achievement at the end of the game.

Get A Triple-Double - 250GP
This was achieved by getting a triple-double with any player.
A triple-double is when a player has three different stats in double digit numbers (10 or more) for the game. This can be any three of the following: assists, blocked shots, points, rebounds (offensive or defensive), or steals.

The easiest way to do this is to first steal the ball Whenever the opposing team has it. To do this get in close and wiggle the right analog stick. Once you have the ball make a shot. Do this until you've got 10 or more points with that player (5 baskets or less). Once you have double digit points instead of making shots, once you have the ball wait for your team mates to get near the basket and pass the ball to them so they can make the basket. This will give you assists. Continue to do this until you have 10 or more points, steals, and assists.

Once you've accomplished this you'll see a VIP lock icon across the bottom of the screen saying you've earned a triple-double. You will receive the Achievement at the end of the game.
