so I'm thinking this mod is a lot easier/safer than the one described here that involves soldering sata wires to the mobo: http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=699024

But would I have to turn the power on the external hd enclosure each time I turn my 360 on or is there a way to make the hd turn on and off automatically?

If you'll read this post by Frosty you see that there is an easier way to do it and it turns on with the Xbox. You just need to solder to a 12v source on the motherboard.

well I dont like having a bare drive setting out. You do have to turn it on before turning on the xbox though, no a big deal in my opinion.

turning it on doesnt work well for where I have my 360.  Its in my living room under the tv stand and I'd much rather just sit on the couch, grab a controller and go.

Sorry guys but im having a hell of time understanding what this cable is.  So if I could this straight it is on one side a female 2.5in sata cable and on the other side a female esata cable? Or do I have it mixed up?  Also maybe someone could locate the cable for me on this website, because I can't find it.  It is the computer supply store that I usually buy all my stuff from.  www.ncix.com.  I have a esata to sata cable already but it doesn't seem to fit is it the wrong cable? I know these are some dumb questions and I apologize for that, im usually good with computers, but I am having just a huge mind block for some reason on this.  Thank you to anyone who helps in advance.

So the sata male jutst plugs into the xbox
where the current hdd is plugged into...
Or does the wire need to be soldered or spliced?

Just ordered from cpustuff and it just so happens that they're in So Cal! I'm in Pasadena! Haha! Can't wait to do this!
