No Xell With New Xbr Update, Did I Do Something Wrong?
« on: January 03, 2010, 11:19:00 AM »

Hey guys, updated my Xenon with the newest XBR released a few days ago and when I tried to use my Windows to boot into Xell, the console turned on, but never did anything else. So my questions are: a)Does it not come with Xell in it? b)Did something go wrong? c)Do I need to manually edit it in? Not a big deal, just nice to have and want to make sure it works. Thanks everyone smile.gif

Think (although I haven't updated yet due to chrimbo), that you boot Xell by turning the 360 on with the DVD eject button smile.gif

It's the same for me. Pressing the media button on the remote or using a wired controller plugged into the rear USB will turn the console on but it boots to blank screen. Switching on the 360 using the eject button will load Xell though. But strangely Xell no longer boots my Gentoo live cd like it did before.

Ya exactly, I even let it sit for a good 15mins. Huh, that is weird that it wont boot your cd, how did you update to the new XBR? I flashed mine via lpt.

O BTW, I love your Cable tutorial smile.gif Saaaaweet, and I must say I did it, with a little change. Thanks!

Have any of you tried updating XBReboots's Xell with Redline99's version?

See if that gets your live cds to work.

Just want to confirm. To update to the other version of Xell.

nanpro20b.exe XBR.bin: -W16 xell-1f.bin 40

then nandpro20b lpt: -w16 XBR.bin

would this do it?

or could i just do
nandpro20b.exe lpt: -W16 xell-1f.bin 40

You must do: nandpro lpt: +W16 xell-1f.bin 30

Or you could update via a formated-fat usb drive.

have you gotten this to work with the latest XBR?  When i use the usb update, or any update method tbh, it ends up only booting into xell. then i have to reflash again...

Running the xell update from usb will not know where the address in XBR is to update, and write the beginning. This happens because xell is in a different place in xbr than regular xell.

OK guys, big update here! I grabbed the updated xell from the link above(xboxhacker) and flashed my nand using "nandpro lpt: +W16 xell-1f.bin 30". Xell works great, and even displays my CPU and DVD Key BUTTT get this, its no longer the eject button to get into Xell. When I flashed this and used the eject button it just sat there with a blank screen. BUTTT if I use my Windows key, it boots perfectly with the updated version.

So the outcome:
a)Updated Xell using LPT, runs good
b)No longer use eject to boot Xell, Must Use OLD method of windows key, controller in back, or keyboard.

On a side note my Falcon have no problems running XeLL straight from 3a.

Mine runs Xell from 3A, but have you tried booting the Gentoo Live CD?

strange...

Does the Live CD need to be on a CD or can it be on a DVD? I burned to a dvd cause i ran out of CD's... maybe that's the issue...
