Unreal & Xbconnect
« on: December 28, 2002, 08:46:00 PM »

I have installed Unreal to my hard drive.
Before I lauched the game I took the Precaution
to deleted 3 files that are the ones that update your
dashboard etc. ( update.xbe, dashupdate.xbe, downloder.xbe). Are these file required to be able to use
XBconnect? I cant seem to get Xbconnect to find my Xbox.
I launch Unreal from evox dash and go to system link tab
where it should list servers but nothing. Xbconnect option tab
just keeps looking for Xbox but never finds it.
any hlp would great, thanks in advance.

here is my setup:

Pc:  192.168.1.100
cable modem
Linsys router using DHCP /
Forwarding port 8602  (tcp & udp) to 192.168.1.100

Xbox: Ver 1.0 / Matrix / 2.5 ybox colormod / 192.168.1.101

Because I didnt want them to update anything on my Xbox.
What I want to know is if anyone is playing Unreal on XBconnect
without these file. As I understand it these are the files that
update your box for Xbox Live stuff. I trying keep from accidently
getting banned. Althougth I dont own a XboxLive starter kit
and have not signed up for live, I may want to in the future.
I just want to play on XBconnect for now.

the files are in the root of the games DVD.
I never booted the orignal Game disk, I just copied it to the
Harddrive. Then used FlashFXP to delete them.
As for the my orignal post, I have solved that too.
It was my Router messing things up. I can play
through XBconnect just fine now.
