Flashing A Maxstor Diamondmax Ata
« on: September 19, 2006, 07:59:00 AM »

Could anyone please give me some advice on how to flash the above with the orig.bak file, stored on my USB stick, after STUPIDLY selecting to flash this drive with the TS360 Autoflasher v3.2, instead of the 360 drive?
Its a 6y1020l0, with the only copies of our daughters first steps/first smile/first words on it, and I want to die!!

First, buy a new drive (same model obviously,) swap the PCBAs, and recover the most important files first. I don't know if Maxtor stores the bad sector table on the drive, or in the flash, but there may be unreadable areas if you try to copy the entire drive.

Second, quit wasting DVDRs on 'backups' of games, and use them to backup your important data. What would you do if the drive just died?

Otherwise, get ready to pay $2000+ for a data recovery service to pull the data from the drive.
