Your hard drive is not affected by the xbox live ban.  However, if you have played a game and saved progress using a banned box, when you take the hard drive and put it in a non banned box, the non banned box will not be able to read the saved game. Same goes for your profile if you earn achievements, non banned boxes will see a 'corrupted profile'.
