Accessing Other Drives In Gentoox...
« on: April 06, 2004, 04:38:00 PM »

I recently FTP installed Gentoox and everything is working fine.

However, gentoox is on drive E and I dont seem to be able to access my other HD partitions using any Gentoox software. I would like to be able to play media files from drive F etc.

How can I access my other drives??

sorry if this is a newbish question, but the search function is not working.

Thanks.

i dont know if i read your question properly (and sorry for the terms i may use... i have 4 days of VERY LIMITED linux experience) but basically you just want to play files from your F partition right?

to do this just open up your explorer dealy and erase all thats in the pathname bar, and type / and press enter (if you dont have a keyboard click go)

then go to mnt, then to fatx, then to f....

hope this helped....  ;)

just a few cents of mine...

EDIT -

btw... if you wanted to open a file through the media player (instead of the explorer dealy) you would just go to browse and then follow those steps, like windows...

thanks. That helped alot. The only problem is now with F drive. It now stated Access Denied when I tried to access it this way.

Any thoughts?

i think you need to be root to access the Partitions, Open a console, login as root and run the Media Player from there for root privileges.
