I believe 1080p requires the VGA cable, or HDMI if you've got a newer console.

It will display an HD-DVD movie at 1080p with component, but to upscale your SD-DVDs will require an HDMI or VGA connection.  wink.gif

It only upscales SD-DVDs when using HDMI or VGA. If he is using component then it will dispaly an SD-DVD at 480p.
